Story & Personal Songwriting Critique

QUICK BACKGROUND STORY

Ps 33:3 Sing to him a new song;

Ps 40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

Ps 96:1 Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth.

Ps 144:9 I will sing a new song to you, O God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you
,

I've only been songwriting a couple years, so i've got aloooot of work to do in every aspects of it such as melodical work, chords (being less typical chord progression style), flow, build up, and so forth... It's endless...And honestly there are many times i've actually given it up, but somehow someway i've always found myself coming back to it...Whether it was during personal struggles that i wanted to express something to God or encouragement from people, i felt lead this is something i'm called to do in this season of my life... and hopefully not only see people to be lead into His presence with it by really bring glory to Him, our Father of creation.

More than writing songs for the sake of it or to have a record or whatever the motive... i truly want to write songs to bless congregational worship, whereby people can enter and engage with God on a such a deep level, that they totally lost in His presence. Whereby the words are so personal to them, that it becomes their prayer, their songs.

More than anything, i enjoy it and i believe it's something God has gifted me (whether it's one talent or ten talents / whether i'm a beginner songwriter or industry level)... i want to sow and develop what God has entrusted me with.

AND so i've begun this journey to post up my ideas and to share with the church community...you guys... so please feel free to share your thoughts and of course encouragements (hopefully in truth, cause i'd rather you guys being blunt in love than lie in love). Also feel free to to email me any your song ideas =)

Father You are the creator, You are the original innovator, would you inspire me to write songs for Your church, Your people and this generation, to see people to fall in love with You. May all the glory and honour go to Yours name, and may the result of this webpage, songwriting and feedback result in multitude of lives being postively influenced and impacted somehow someway into the engagement of a pure worship. In Jesus name! Amen...

PERSONAL SONGWRITING CRITIQUE

When i started writing songs, the intention was purely from an very youthful approach, leading me to try to produce songs that were catchy... There are many pro's and con's...

Pro's - i have lots of fun, not taking it too seriously.. And trying to be more creative as a result
Con's - Restriction's to writing mostly fast songs

But one thing that I've noticed is that I've tended to overuse rhyme, and that has also to do with the influence of songwriting in rap format... Actually songwriting began for me doing rap so, i tend to organise things through rhyme... Which is seriously a bad habit... It starts to have a tacky feel when there's too much direct rhyme... rather than the use of non-rhyme rythmn or indirect rhyme i.e. life and Christ - the rhyme of the vowel "i"... some that i've used in some of my songs...

More than anything we/I SHOULD WRITE SONGS OUT OF MY PERSONAL TIMES OF WORSHIP, OUT OF MY PERSONAL CRIES TO GOD, out of what is happening in our churches, an encapsulation of what the church and the people are going through, to express the heart of God for it's people, out of a pure heart of worship to bring God glory... the list goes on... but in a sentence to summarize it...

it's about all God and not about me
Don't know if what i wrote above makes sense, but i know one thing i hope that does make sense, is that - all this is for Him!!! May it be all about Him!! All the glory to Him!! Always!!
(Ps 115:1)

Hey Hermann! It's a blessing to see what God is doing in your life and what He will do. Do u know what verse comes to my mind? "Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you" -Mark 5:19. By watching you grow by God's hand, you are being a witness to your family in Christ - and that is a great blessing and encouragement. We're praying for you
